Expert Data Source Configuration

The Expert Configure Data Source Wizard allows you to connect to a third-party database using a connection string. It allows more customization than Windows ODBC or Direct Connection, but requires expert knowledge.

  1. Specify a connection string.

    2. To use a template

    1. Click Templates. The Connection String Templates dialog box will open.
    2. Under Template name, expand the list of available templates.
    3. Select a template.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Under Configure how to connect to your data source, modify the template to suit your desired database connection.
  2. Click Test to test whether the connection works.
  3. When you are ready, click Finish.
